Gia
Blakey
BIO

With a powerful presence but heartfelt aura, Gia knows how to capture any audience. Her notable inspirations include Taylor Russell, Stephanie Hsu, Sarah Snook, and Jessica Chastain. During her college career, Gia jumped from set to set every month and gradually fell deeper in love with the process of filmmaking and the comradery that emerges in such environments. With an insatiable hunger for creation, she strives to tell the stories she wishes she saw during her adolescence: black girls navigating the tumults and joys of life without only aiding the stories of their white counterparts, or solely living within stories of racial trauma. In her eyes, black joy is transcendent.
She harbors a love and passion for gymnastics, and dreamed of being the next Simone Biles at age 12. However, now she is a graduate of UCLA and can ONLY do a few back and front flips, so that didn’t work out! (She’s still happy with where she is though.). Gia received a minor in Public Affairs from UCLA and studied the intricacies of social welfare, public policy, and gerontology. She volunteered at a retirement home in her senior year, and after spending time with elders, she came to truly value the process of life and aging. Gia thirsts for life, and is always finding ways to soak up the small joys encompassing her.
